Erika: Vestibular Tissue Release
| Vestibular Tissue
This is called a vestibular tissue release. I will show you what it looks like once we are completed with it. We are doing the same thing here. We are injection some medication, liquid to help make the dissection earlier. Right now what we are performing is the release of the tissue from the under surface of the cartilage. You have to be very cautious and slow with this. It is a very tedious dissection. We just finished and what we have performed is a vestibular release where the cartilage is free flowing. One of the questions we will often hear is how much of the cartilage are we going to remove. Here is the big problem. If you remove some of this cartilage it is going to make the support of the nose a lot less and make things worse. The nose will appear more volvulus so we need to keep the strength. We need as much as possible to overcome the forces of that thick skin with no definition. We are not going to remove any of this. If anything we have to make this stronger, make it ever bigger. When we went for Erika’s surgery we had numerous procedures we had to do. We just finished seeing Erika. It is six weeks following her rhinoplasty surgery. As you can tell by looking at the before and after photographs her nose looks a lot better and she still has a lot more healing to so. I am very happy with her right now. |
