Deep Temporalis Fascia Viral
Erika: Temporalis Fascia Harvest
So right now we are about to make an incision in her scalp and take something called fascia out. Fascia is a little bit of soft tissue which is a lot softer and better than placing cartilage to build up the upper part of her nose, what we call the upper bridge or dorsum of her nose. Another word for this is actually the radix of the nose. We are going to use fascia to build up the radix of the nose.
We made the wound incision in the temple with elevating the soft tissue on top of the fascia. Right now what we are doing is dissecting the fascia from the underlying muscle and removing it. This tissue is just so much better.
Here is what the fascia looks like. It is very soft.
Now we are irrigating the wound with antibiotic irrigation and now we are going to close the wound. We are spraying a little bit of Marcaine into the wound to help with anesthesia. Now we are closing the incision with stainless steel staples which will be removed in seven days. By the way this incision can heal beautifully with a very minimal, minimal scar. She will not even notice it in two weeks. We will take these staples out in one week and she will forget about it. This is not even going to hurt her. A very simple little procedure.
We also use the fascia in most of our revision rhinoplasty cases.
When we went in for Erika's surgery, we had numerous procedures we had to so.
We just finished seeing Erika at six weeks following her rhinoplasty surgery. As you can tell by looking at the before and after photographs her nose looks a lot better and she still has a lot more healing to go.
I am very happy for her right now. |
