Are there additional risks to have functional and cosmetic nose surgery at the same time?
I am an 18-year-old male and I am having rhinoplasty to correct a deviated septum and I’m also getting my bridge widened. I figured I would get both procedures done at the same time while I am under anesthesia. Are there any additional risks to having both the cosmetic and functional surgeries done at the same time?
Patients commonly have both functional and cosmetic surgery performed at the same time. The only additional risks come from the fact that you will be under general anesthesia for a longer period of time. There are some risks associated with general anesthesia. These risks can be minimized when the surgery is performed in a facility that has the proper equipment and a knowledgeable and well-trained staff. If any complications do arise, your surgeon will be able to address them quickly. Performing functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty at the same time has no effect on the outcome of the surgeries. Thank you and I hope this helps.
