Question:
My nose is straight until about an inch from the tip and then it turns up sharply. I want the ski jump removed but I have a problem. If I press the tip of my nose down it makes my nostrils flare out more, it looks a little pig-like. Can a nose job straighten out my nose and make the nostrils smaller at the same time? Will I have a scar?
Answer:
It is possible to straighten the nose and make the nostrils smaller at the same time. You may benefit from bringing your tip down and having the size of your ala made smaller through an alar base reduction. These two procedures may be performed simultaneously. I would really need to see photographs and/or perform an examination to give you the best advice. Please send any photographs you may have to Lisa, my Patient Care Coordinator, at ana@spaldingplasticsurgery.com and I would be happy to evaluate them for you. When performed properly by a highly skilled surgeon, any scar left on your columella with an open procedure will be minimally visible. Thank you for the question.

It is possible to have this procedure. I recently performed a very similar rhinoplasty procedure. Dr. Paul Nassif’s before after photos look great.
